Fr Paul Reflects

I found myself starting to cry in mass the other day.

We had just been round various parts of Payatas interviewing some of the people on the list of more than 13,000 families for our relief food distribution. We asked one woman what her dreams for life and for her family are. Her reply translated into English was basically " My dream is that we can survive ".

Another woman we interviewed cried as she shared that in their hunger they ate "pagpag" (thrown away food from the rubbish dumps). Without any exceptions the people we interviewed said that even the small amount of rice and foodstuffs we distribute are a great help ("making tulong"). When we distribute from our center people will even queue in the rain for a small amount of rice.
