As most know, Fr Paul Uwemedimo MGL, who works with the poor in Payatas, Manila, Philippines suffered a major case of Deep Vein Thrombosis which rendered him in a critical state in intensive care for a number of weeks. Thanks to the prayers of so many around the world, and the skills of the team of doctors working on his case, Paul has now left hospital and is being cared for at one of our houses in St Benedict parish. We are very grateful for the large number of people who generously donated towards his medical costs and ongoing care. It will be quite a long time before he will be up and about. Meanwhile Fr Alex is developing youth ministry and a charismatic Mass at Payatas. We are grateful for Fr Steve’s tireless work in making sure Fr Paul’s medical care has been the best and his family members in Britain and the USA have been fully involved in the whole process.
Fr Rey is now installed as parish priest and doing a great job. Fr Vincent Widi will be moving to Manila after having completed his Masters in Psychology, and will take up ministry there. We have six young Filipinos joining us for initial formation in the Manila mission and we trust we will soon be able to welcome four new pre-novices from India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
