Behold Your Saviour

Dear friends in Christ,

I trust that this Christmas you will experience the joy and peace of Jesus, our Saviour. It has been a tough year for many due to COVID-19 restrictions, but our consolation is in the Lord, who never abandons us.

I hope you can find some quiet time in the hectic lead-up to Christmas to just stop and reflect on the beauty of this moment. Find some time just to be alone with the Lord and allow your imagination to take you to the stable in Bethlehem where our Saviour was born. In your mind’s eye envisage the scene of Mary and Joseph, with the new-born child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. The shepherds have arrived after being alerted by the angel with some amazing words, “Do not be afraid. Listen, I bring you news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you: he is Christ the Lord! ” Maybe the same words are being spoken to you also.

This is a time of great joy as you behold our Saviour, as you adore him, full of thanks for his many gifts you have received in your life. But the greatest gift of all is Christ himself, who “did not cling to his equality with God, but emptied himself, becoming one of us, and then went further; being obedient unto death on the Cross”. All out of love for you! May his love win your heart!

Blessings to you all,

Fr Ken
