Growing up in an orphanage in India, Fr Baiju MGL discovered God not as a distant figure, but as a personal and loving Father. Through moments of deep loneliness and unexpected spiritual encounters, he came to embrace his identity as a beloved son — a journey that ultimately led him to the priesthood. His story is a powerful witness to how God's love can transform even the most painful beginnings.

This Easter, the communities of St Martin de Porres Aboriginal Catholic Community and Holy Spirit Parish brought Art in Action to life, proclaiming the Gospel message through art. From a painted Easter candle symbolising hope, to a striking crown of thorns installation, local artists used their God-given gifts to help others encounter Christ’s love. Through prayer and creativity, they revealed the beauty and power of the resurrection.

We’ve just completed our sixth Alpha course at St Benedict’s, and it was a great success - with over 30 participants consistently attending over the past 12 weeks. Alpha remains a key part of our parish renewal strategy here in Narrabundah. We were blessed to host youth discipleship expert Everett Fritz in our Sydney mission this May. Founder of Andrew Ministries, Everett trained and encouraged 17 youth leaders from Penshurst and Oatley parishes, sharing powerful insights on small group ministry and discipleship. His visit left a lasting impact on our leaders and parish communities, inspiring renewed vision and momentum in youth ministry across our Mission.

In 2015, during a priests’ retreat at St John Lateran Basilica in Rome, I had the privilege of asking Pope Francis a question. As he answered, he maintained eye contact with me, and afterward, I approached him for a blessing. To my surprise, he embraced me warmly and accepted my book, His Name is Mercy. He held it up joyfully, later releasing a book titled God’s Name is Mercy. That moment deeply touched me with the Father’s love.
